We are all very aware of getting healthy and staying healthy resolutions made on January 1st. Sadly, we don’t all keep to those resolutions. Many of us, me included!, forget that if we do not stock ourselves with the proper tools to make the changes stick we won’t succeed. I’ve put together a small list of what I believe to be the top 5 weight loss tools to help you stay on track with your goals.
First of my weight loss tools: Meal Planner!
I have found that when I plan out my meals, I am less likely to binge or stray from the path. The hardest part is making sure you have a variety of foods in your plan to keep you from getting burnt out on the same thing day after day. Once you have determined what type of diet you are going to follow, then make sure you research the foods you can and can not have. For me personally, I have always done best when I don’t tell myself that I can’t have a certain food. Especially when I’m on a strict grocery budget for a very large family. It’s just too expensive for me to purchase separate foods just for me. I’m more of a “be conscious of what I am eating type of person”. So planning is a must for me.
Second of my weight loss tools: Fitness Tracker!
Third of my weight loss tools: Food Containers!
Okay. If you are following something like the 21 Day Fix, then you know all about the food containers. But did you know that they can also be helpful if you are like me and want to make sure you are getting all the good stuff while enjoying the not so good stuff as well? Having meal prep containers help save my sanity. I can easily make up my meals for the day, and then I just have to grab the container and go. I do not normally fix my breakfasts though. I also do not pre-make my dinner. It’s either yogurt and fruit or eggs for me for breakfast, and dinner is whatever we cook that night. Once I finish my breakfast, I make up my containers for the day. I try and have 6 meals a day. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack/dessert. Wondering what a day looks like for me? Check out my sample menu plan. Bento style boxes work great for lunch and dinner. For snacks in between meals I use the 21 Day Fix style containers. One snack might be 3 boiled eggs. Another might be cheese cubes and salami. I measure and store for the day, and I am ready to rock and roll.
Fourth of my weight loss tools: Water Bottle!
Fifth of my weight loss tools: Support!
Seriously. And this may be the most important tool. A support group of like minded friends who will be there to let you lament when you eat one too many chocolates, praise you when you have hit your milestones, and push you to make it to the next one. There are places like Diet Bet that will help provide motivation. Having a support group will help you succeed in ways you would never imagine. Share recipes, tips, and stories with each other. Work together to reach your goals. If you are close to each other, then work out together and share meals.
There are so many more tools that you can add to this list. A good scale, kitchen scale, body measurement tape, vitamins, and more just to name a few. But this list is my top 5 weight loss tools to help you stay on track and reach your goals.
